Week 96 — The one after camping
Last weekend Clare and I took the dogs and went camping up to Wee Jasper. You can read all about it here, but the TL;DR was that it was an incredibly relaxing and refreshing trip to be out under the starts, even just for 1 night. A++ would go again.
I did bring a cold home, I think? I was feeling pretty tired and run-down when we got back home and then had a shocker of a cough the next day. But after that I was fine, I have just had a little horse for a voice since, as my throat recovers from coughing.
The week at work was hectic. We have been trying to deliver a feature that cuts across 3 teams in 3 disparate parts of the org, that was originally slated for September, and was then brought in to June 😅. The good news is, we got there, but not without a last minute change to a critical database's structure. Thankfully, we were able to isolate that at one of the system boundaries, and Claude made querying the new data and returning data in the shape that the boundary expected painlessly simple to turn around.
This weekend was lovely! Sebby, Clare and I went out for a coffee and a baby chino in the morning, then went past Clare's to visit Sugar 🐱. Seb, got her name down pat this time and immediately went for the brushes to brush her hair. Sebby then discovered a broom and wandered around the apartment saying "oh no, mess!" and sweeping up the "mess" 🥰. No matter how many times he cleaned up, that darn mess just kept coming back! After a thorough clean of the space (including squeegeeing down the windows!) we read a few books and had a nap before heading out to visit his Yiayia (my mum) and Costa who had driven up from Melbourne. They brought with them a soccer ball, a football, a knitted doll in the style of Jane Greenhowe and a compendium of Hairy Maclary books 🥰. The soccer ball was an instant hit — even the dogs wanted to join in! On Sunday morning we took the soccer ball to the park so Sebastian could run around even more and practice his dribbling. He was a natural with both feet 😅! After our arvo nap, we came back home and Sebby spent most of it playing with his Yiayia and Papou — drawing, building with play-dough, reading, singing, even kicking the soccer ball around. It's been really awesome seeing him get more and more confident with himself and the people around him, and show delight when interacting in ways that bring him joy, or when new experience surprise him!
